The Girls Are Back! Wesley Girls’ High School Crowned Central Regional Champions After Five-Year Wait

Wesley Girls’ High School have reclaimed the Central Regional Championship title after a five-year wait, putting up a stunning performance to defeat three of the region’s top contenders in a tightly contested final. This marks their first regional victory since 2020, ending a period dominated by their male counterparts, Mfantsipim School in 2021 and Adisadel College from 2022 to 2024.

The final contest of the NSMQ 2025 Central Regional Championship featured four formidable schools: Wesley Girls’ High School, St. Augustine’s College, University Practice SHS, and Mfantsipim School, each vying for the coveted title of regional champions.

The competition began intensely, with all schools showing clear intent to dominate. By the end of Round Two, St. Augustine’s College led the pack with 29 points, followed closely by Wesley Girls’ High School on 25 points and University Practice SHS with 24 points. Mfantsipim School, meanwhile, trailed with 13 points, facing an uphill task.

Round Three proved pivotal, as Wesley Girls’ High School fought back to level with St. Augustine’s College, both tied at 36 points. University Practice SHS remained firmly in the race with 34 points, while Mfantsipim School improved significantly, climbing to 28 points.

In a gripping final round, Wesley Girls’ High School surged ahead, finishing the contest with 43 points, and edging out St. Augustine’s College, who ended on 40 points. University Practice SHS maintained their position with 34 points, and Mfantsipim School concluded the contest with 28 points.

This victory signals a powerful comeback for Wesley Girls’ High School, who not only dethroned the reigning champions, Adisadel College, but also made a strong statement about the calibre of female academic excellence in the region.
