NSMQ 2026: Bono Regionals kick off in high spirit with wins for Sacred Heart SHS, Mansen SHS, Sunyani SHS and Wenchi Methodist SHS

The first day of the Bono Regional Qualifiers for the National Science & Maths Quiz got off to an exciting start, with schools stepping up for a fierce battle of speed, accuracy and composure. Schools came prepared to make their mark, and the results reflected a lively start to this year’s regional battle.

Mansen SHS makes National Debut with win in Contest One

Mansen SHS edged a tense opening contest with 26 points, narrowly beating Istiqaama SHS, which finished with 25 points. Methodist SHTS, Berekum followed closely with 24 points, while Kyem Amponsah SHS and Odomaseman SHS ended level on 17 points each.

Sacred Heart set a high-standard in Contest Two

Sacred Heart SHS delivered the most emphatic performance of the day, storming to 71 points in a dominant showing. Nkrankwanta SHTS placed second with 13 points, just ahead of Nkoranman SHS on 12 points, while Salvation Army SHS finished with three points.

Sunyani SHS come from behind to clinch Contest Three

Sunyani SHS claimed a hard-fought victory in Contest 3 with 38 points, holding off a strong challenge from Drobo SHS, which posted 36 points. Goka SHTS secured 26 points, while Nsawkaw State SHS and Diamono SHS finished with five points and one point respectively.

Wenchi Methodist SHS qualify in low-scoring Contest Four

Wenchi Methodist SHS wrapped up the day with a win, scoring 19 points to top Contest 4. Sumaman SHS followed with 13 points, Dormaa SHS finished on 12 points, and St. Augustine's SHS ended the contest with -1 point.

The Regional Qualifiers continue on Saturday, August 1, 2026 with contests in the Bono, Ahafo, Volta and Greater Accra regions. A total of 30 Top Runners-Up nationwide still stand the chance to qualify for the National Championship.
