The fourth edition of the 2025 Sci-Tech Innovation Challenge was officially launched on December 2, 2025, at the GCB lecture hall at the University of Ghana. The theme for this year is “From Creation to Application: Imagining Renewable Energy in Ghana.”

The event, designed to celebrate the creativity, innovation and potential of Ghana’s young minds in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, brought together enthusiastic students eager to make a change within their society. It marked the start of a series of activities aimed at inspiring the nation’s next generation of scientists and trailblazers.
It was graced by the Managing Director of Primetime Limited, Nana Akua Mensa-Bonsu, the Consultant and Engineer for the Sci-Tech Innovation Challenge, Mr Michael Mensah, and representatives from key sponsors such as Trustur AI and Jupay.

The festival comprises two main components: the Mentorship Sessions and the Sci-Tech Fair. Over the past three weeks, seasoned mentors have participated in the Mentorship Sessions, providing valuable career guidance to students across senior high schools in Accra and Tema. The second phase of the Sci-Tech Fair officially commenced on the University of Ghana campus.
In her welcome address, the Managing Director of Primetime Limited, Nana Akua Mensa-Bonsu, expressed her excitement ahead of this year’s Innovation Challenge. "Remember that this process is about learning, discovery and growth. It is not just about winning, but about thinking critically, collaborating effectively and building confidence in your ideas. Each question you ask, each experiment you try and each problem you solve is a step towards innovation.” She noted.

She further encouraged students to be open to exploring new approaches and to learn from their mistakes.
“To the students, approach this challenge with curiosity and courage. Be open to exploring new approaches, learning from mistakes and supporting one another as a team. Your creativity and dedication are already making this journey meaningful.” She added.
She concluded by expressing her gratitude to the mentors who volunteered to join the
“Road Show” and lend their expertise to students in selected senior high schools in Accra and Tema.
one of the Consultant and engineer for the Sci-Tech Fair, Michael Mensah, also shared his expectations ahead of this year’s Innovation Challenge. He highlighted the relevance of the theme in tackling issues within Ghanaian society and urged learners to develop solutions that address real community challenges.

“Ideas are good but ideas that work are even better. Renewable energy gives us one of the biggest chances to turn ideas into real solutions in our society and community.”
“Creation has done its part it is now our turn to you use the very tools that we know to turn these beautiful creations into something that works for all of us for our various communities.”
He expressed his confidence in their potential, noting that Ghana needs great thinkers and doers who can imagine, create and transform ideas into impact, adding that the next generation of engineers and renewable energy innovators could very well be seated in the room. The Sci- Tech Innovation challenge begins at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
