NSMQ 2026: Kumasi Sec. Tech., Anglican SHS and Islamic SHS, Kumasi survive tense Ashanti Day Five battles

Kumasi Secondary Technical School, Anglican SHS, Kumasi and Islamic SHS, Kumasi have secured qualification to the 2026 National Championship after winning their respective contests on Day Five of the Ashanti Regional Qualifiers.


The day offered a blend of dominance and suspense, with one contest producing a runaway win, another going right down to the wire, and the final contest delivering a comfortable finish for Anglican SHS, Kumasi.


Kumasi Sec. Tech. storms through in Contest 16

Kumasi Secondary Technical School produced the most emphatic result of the day in Contest 16, cruising to victory with 71 points. Bosomtwe Boys’ STEM High School followed with 22 points, while Al-Azhariya Islamic SHS and Barekese SHS scored 11 and 9 points respectively.

It was a statement performance from Kumasi Sec. Tech., who controlled the contest from start to finish and left no doubt about their qualification.


Islamic SHS, Kumasi edges a thriller in Contest 18

Contest 18 delivered the closest battle of the day, with Islamic SHS, Kumasi narrowly beating Agona SHTS by a single point. Islamic SHS, Kumasi finished on 41 points, just ahead of Agona SHTS’s 40 points. Juaben SHS followed with 32 points, while Tweneboa Kodua SHS and Mpasatia SHTS scored 28 and 21 points respectively.

The contest remained tense throughout, with several schools in striking distance until the final stretch.


Anglican SHS, Kumasi keeps control in Contest 17

Anglican SHS, Kumasi rounded off the day with a strong showing in Contest 17, finishing on 60 points to secure the win. Juaben SHS put up a respectable fight with 37 points, while Bonwire SHS closed the contest with 8 points.

The result was enough to confirm Anglican SHS, Kumasi’s place at the Nationals and bring another successful day for the Ashanti Region qualifiers to a close.
