NSMQ 2026: Ashanti Regional Qualifiers kickoff with dominant wins for Ejisuman SHS, St. Louis SHS, Osei Kyeretwie SHS and Konongo Odumase

In an impressive display of wit, endurance and fierce competitiveness, four schools in the Ashanti Region secured their place in the 2026 National Championship. Ejisuman SHS, St. Louis SHS, Osei Kyeretwie SHS and Konongo Odumase SHS each won their contests with clear victories at the end of the first day.
Ejisuman SHS sidesteps Onwe SHS and St. Jerome SHS in Contest One
The opening contest of the Ashanti Regional Qualifiers featured debutants Onwe SHTS, St. Jerome SHS and Ejisuman SHS. From the onset, Ejisuman SHS (ESEC) appeared the clear favorites, leading the pack all the way till the end with a 16-point margin. The ESEC duo answered major questions and snatched valuable bonus points, garnering 51 points to qualify for the Preliminary Stage of the National Championship.
Despite a slow start, St. Jerome SHS kept a good pace but could not overturn ESEC’s lead, finishing with 35 points. Onwe SHS’s second-year duo put up a spirited first-timer appearance, ultimately gaining three (3) points across four rounds.
Fierce three-cart contest ends with St. Louis SHS on top in Contest Two
Jachie Pramso SHS edged an early lead in the second contest, with 27 points at the end of round one. Kumasi Girls’ SHS swiftly overturned this lead at the end of the second round scoring 32 points, while St. Louis SHS trailed in second place with 29 points.
By the end of the four-round contest, Jacobu SHTS could not keep up with the other schools, ending with 15 points. Esaase Bontefufuo SHTS managed 37 points, while Kumasi Girls’ SHS ended with 42 points, with Jachie Pramso SHS finishing with 45 points. St. Louis SHS extended their third round lead and won the contest with 53 points.
Osei Kyeretwie dazzle with 53-pt display in Contest Three
In the third contest, Osei Kyeretwie SHS (OKESS) proved they were not just favorites to win the contest but a force to reckon with. With a 56-pt finish and a twenty-eight gap, they edged out Dwamena Akenten SHS’s 28pts, Apagya SHS’s 27pts and Gyaama Pensan SHTS’s 25pts to emerge victorious.
From start to finish, none of the three schools were a match for the precision and speed of OKESS.
Konongo Odumase SHS
Konongo Odumase SHS saw off Sakafia Islamic SHS, Bosomtwe Girls' STEM SHS and Asare Bediako SHS in the last contest of the day. With sheer dominance from round one to four, Konongo Odumase SHS finished with XX, while their closest competitor: Sakafia Islamic SHS, attained XX pts. Bosomtwe Girls’ STEM SHS and Asare Bediako SHS rounded off the contest with X and X points respectively.

The Ashanti Regional Qualifiers will continue on Sunday, July 26, 2026 and end on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
