NSMQ 2025: St. Augustine’s College Secures a Spot in the Quarter-final Stage in a Thrilling Contest

It was a thrilling contest as St. Augustine’s College, Kumasi Academy, and St. John’s Grammar School battled fiercely for a spot in the Quarter-final Stage. The most anticipated contest of the day filled the auditorium with excitement and kept supporters on the edge of their seats. Each ring of a bell and every attempt to answer a question sent waves of tension through the crowd.

Before the start of the contest, St. Augustine’s boys made their presence felt, singing jama songs and motivating their contestants to take on the challenge with confidence. The team spirit was palpable as they prepared to battle fiercely, determined to dominate their opponents.
The contest was intense, with contestants fully charged as they faced each other head on. Each correct answer from the St. Augustine’s team sparked an eruption of cheers from their supporters, a clear display of their dominance. With every question answered, the boys proved their readiness for this year’s competition. At the end of Round One, St. Augustine’s College led with 25 points, St. John’s Grammar School followed with 19, and Kumasi Academy closely trailed with 18 points.

In Round Two, the “Trustur AI Speed Race”, the competition intensified as each school fought for dominance. Anticipation and uncertainty filled the air. Despite a few failed attempts, the boys remained hopeful and confident in their contestants.
When the final question was answered, St. Augustine’s boys broke into chants, their voices echoing across the auditorium. In a twist of events, St. John’s Grammar School took the lead with 29 points, St. Augustine’s College followed closely with 28, while Kumasi Academy trailed with 20 points.

At the end of Round Three, the “Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star Problem of the Day”, St. Augustine’s College took back their lead 38 points after scoring 10 out of 10 earning them Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star award worth 2,400 Ghana cedis. Kumasi Academy also scored 10 out of 10 in this round, earning them the same award.


Before the start of Round Four, the Jupay True or False Round, substitutions were made. Kumasi Academy brought in Manasseh to replace Kwame, St. Augustine’s College introduced Daniel in place of Harold, and St. John’s Grammar School brought in John to replace Henry. The changes proved strategic, as each school performed impressively, boosting their scores. St. Augustine’s College and St. John’s Grammar School gave each other a fierce chase. At the end of the round, St. John’s Grammar School led with 49 points, St. Augustine’s College followed closely with 48, and Kumasi Academy finished with 43 points.

In the fifth and final round, the GOIL Riddle Bonanza, which would determine the fate of the two leading schools, supporters held their breath and prayed silently for their contestants. The silence was so intense that a pin drop could be heard as the St. Augustine’s boys rang their bell to answer their final question. Moments later, the auditorium erupted in thunderous cheers as they sealed the deal with 54 points.
At the end of the contest, St. Augustine’s College won the Pepsodent Highest Scorer Award worth GH₵2,000.
