NSMQ 2025: Konongo Odumase SHS Qualifies for One-eighth Stage After Second Preliminary Appearance

Konongo Odumase SHS has secured a place in the One-eighth Stage of the National Championship after making a second appearance in the Preliminary Stage as one of the top runner-up schools. Having scored over 40 points in their initial contest, the team returned for another chance to qualify, this time triumphing with an impressive 53 points in a fiercely contested match against St. John’s Grammar SHS and Labone SHS.

The competition began on a heated note, with all three schools answering their preamble questions correctly. Each school fought hard to establish an early lead, but by the end of the first round, Konongo Odumase SHS led with 22 points, closely followed by St. John’s Grammar SHS with 20 points, while Labone SHS trailed with 15 points.

The intensity heightened in Round Two, the Trustur AI Speed Race, where St. John’s Grammar SHS made a strong push to overtake Konongo Odumase. St. John’s Grammar SHS scored 13 points, but Konongo Odumase SHS held their ground with 11 points, extending their total to 33 points, just one point ahead of St. John’s Grammar SHS, who followed with 32 points. Labone SHS, however, struggled in this round, losing three points to drop to 12 points.
The Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star (Problem of the Day), a challenging round of applied reasoning, saw all three schools attempt the problem. Labone SHS put up a commendable effort, scoring five out of 10 points, while Konongo Odumase SHS and St. John’s Grammar SHS each earned four points, keeping the competition tight.
As Round Four, the Jupay Money Transfer True or False round unfolded, the rivalry between the top two intensified. Both Konongo Odumase SHS and St. John’s Grammar SHS added 10 points each, bringing their scores to 47 and 46, respectively. Labone SHS also showed resilience, adding seven points to reach 24 points.

The GOIL Riddle Bonanza, Round Five, proved to be the decisive moment, as the contest remained highly competitive. Konongo Odumase SHS confidently solved two riddles, sealing their victory with 53 points. St. John’s Grammar SHS was unable to pick a riddle, while Labone SHS managed to solve two, improving their final tally to 30 points.
At the end of the exciting five-round contest, Konongo Odumase SHS secured qualification to the One-eighth Stage of the National Championship.
