In the world of the National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ), every competition is more than just a contest - it is a platform that nurtures resilience, intellectual growth, and future success. One such inspiring story is that of Samantha Ghartey.
Samantha Ghartey and her teammate, Nellie Vorleto, proudly represented Holy Child School at the 2020 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ), competing against Opoku Ware School and Wesley Girls’ High School in the Quarter-finals. Though Holy Child School’s journey ended at this stage, their performance earned them the Newmont Award for the Best Performing Girls’ School - a testament to their brilliance and determination.
For Samantha, the NSMQ experience was more than just a competition; it was a stepping stone to a future in engineering and technology.
In an exclusive interview with Samantha, she shared her journey since the competition, highlighting her academic and professional growth.

"I am an electrical engineering student at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), with a solid foundation in circuit design, simulation, and programming. I am proficient in simulation tools like Proteus and Multisim, as well as Python and C Programming. My work experience at YunExpress Logistics has strengthened my attention to detail and efficiency in technical processes. Additionally, I have experience in graphic design and branding, which complements my technical expertise with creative problem-solving."
Beyond her academic journey, Samantha is passionate about innovation and community impact. She is the co-founder of Gobaith, an organisation focused on providing a nurturing community for children in underprivileged areas. Additionally, she has worked as a graphic designer at Bismuth Technologies, contributing to visual branding strategies. Her expertise extends to Python automation, Arduino programming, Flutter mobile development, and circuit design, showcasing her versatility in both engineering and creative fields.
As we celebrate her achievements, we are thrilled to announce that Samantha Ghartey will be the first guest on the 2025 edition of the NSMQ Live Chat Show, scheduled for today, March 13, 2025 at 5PM. Join us as she shares her journey, challenges, and aspirations, offering inspiration to young minds who dream of excelling in STEM fields.
