Making a grand return to the National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) stage, St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School delivered a masterclass in precision, speed, and confidence to secure victory in their first contest of the 2025 Championship. The contest, which also featured Sacred Heart Senior High School, a private school, and first-timers, Ngleshie Amanfro Senior High School, was filled with tension and excitements.

Ngleshie Amanfro SHS, making their debut appearance at the National Championship, struggled to find their footing in the opening round. They missed their first question, allowing Sacred Heart SHS to snatch the bonus. St. Thomas Aquinas SHS, however, came into the contest with a clear mission: redemption after falling short in the prelims last year. Their accuracy and composure quickly earned them an early lead, ending the first round with 27 points, while Sacred Heart SHS and Ngleshie Amanfro SHS followed with 16 and 11 points, respectively.

The auditorium buzzed with excitement as the “Trustur AI Speed Race’’ in Round Two began. St. Thomas Aquinas pressed on, answering questions with precision and speed, much to the delight of their supporters, who erupted into cheers with every correct answer. By the end of the round, St. Thomas Aquinas had widened the gap to 40 points, followed by Sacred Heart with 27, and Ngleshie Amanfro still at 11.
The 'Prudential Life NSMQ Star' round was a twist in the tale. None of the three schools solved the Chemistry Problem of the Day, leaving scores unchanged. But the lull didn’t last long. Round Four, the 'JuPay Money Transfer True or False,' reignited the energy in the room as the schools exchanged quick responses. St. Thomas Aquinas continued their dominance, moving to 50 points, with Sacred Heart at 40 points and Ngleshie Amanfro SHS at 21 points.

The 'GOIL Riddle Bonanza' in Round Five, began with Ngleshie Amanfro SHS making the first attempt but missing, followed by Sacred Heart SHS, who also faltered. A sharp buzz rang out, 'Aquinas!' and the correct answer sent a wave of cheers through the crowd. The energy soared as Aquinas picked up the second and third riddles, their supporters chanting 'BEEBƐ!'. With confidence and flair, they seized the fourth riddle on the very first clue, claiming the marks and sealing their dominance.
They ended the contest with 62 points, ahead of Sacred Heart’s 40 points and Ngleshie Amanfro’s 21 points. St Thomas Aquinas SHS, for their thrilling performance, booked a slot in the One-eight stage, marking an epic comeback from last year, and walked away with the GOIL Riddle Bonanza of GH₵1200 for answering all four riddles correctly.
