NSMQ2025: Anglican SHS, Kumasi Snatches One-Point Victory to Secure One-eighth Stage Slot

Anglican Senior High School, Kumasi, has secured a narrow victory over Techiman Senior High School and Fiaseman Senior High School, in a fiercely contested Preliminary Stage battle at the 2025 National Science & Maths Quiz, earning their slot in the One-eighth Stage.

Round One opened with all three schools fighting to establish early control. Techiman SHS led the charge with 23 points, closely followed by Anglican SHS with 22 points, while Fiaseman SHS trailed behind with 14 points.

Techiman SHS strengthened their lead in the “Trustur AI Speed Race”, displaying quick recall and confidence to end the round with 27 points. Anglican SHS followed closely with 24 points, while Fiaseman SHS dropped to 10 points.

The “Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star” round featured a Physics Problem of the Day. Contestants demonstrated teamwork and problem-solving skills, and at the end, Anglican SHS added five points. Techiman SHS scored two out of 10 points, and Fiaseman SHS failed to score any points. This strong performance brought Anglican SHS level with Techiman SHS at 29 points.

Anglican SHS showed remarkable precision in the “JuPay Money Transfer True or False” round, stretching their lead to 42 points. Techiman SHS followed with 36 points, while Fiaseman SHS remained at 20 points, though their contestants maintained determination under pressure.

Techiman SHS’s hope of entering the One-eighth stage was crushed in the “GOIL Riddle Bonanza” round, even though they answered three riddles and attained 45 points. Anglican SHS answered one riddle and surpassed them by one point, achieving 46 points. Fiaseman ended the contest with 20 points.

For their impressive performance, Techiman SHS won GH₵800 for answering 3 riddles correctly.
