The Preliminary Stage was filled with some interesting yet thrilling contests. It saw schools like Amaniampong SHS rise to the heat of the moment. St. Thomas Aquinas SHS proved their worth with a comeback as the highest-scoring school in the Preliminary Stage, with 85 points. After what seemed like unending rounds of tie-breakers, Nungua SHS secured a slot as well into the One-eighth Stage.
Arrivals of Seeded Schools & One-eighth Stage Balloting
All 27 seeded schools arrived on the KNUST campus ahead of the balloting. After a successful ballot, the schools are set to compete in 27 contests at the Saarah-Mensah and Kumapley Auditorium. Everyone is set and preparations are underway ahead of the One-eighth Stage contests. The contests are set to commence from Saturday, 15th October 2022 to Tuesday, 18th October 2022. Which of the 81 schools in the 27 One-eighth Stage contests will advance to the Quarter Finals?
Here are a few contests to look out for:
Contest 9 features Prempeh College, the reigning National champions, St. Thomas Aquinas and Ofori Panin SHS.
Having gone through Regional Qualifiers through to Preliminary stages, St. Thomas Aquinas has been able to prove its worth and stand a chance at defeating the reigning champions after two years of conceding defeat. OPASS stands in high hopes of upstaging PREMPEH and ACQUINAS. Supporters from all three schools stand in high hopes of a win.
Contest 21 features Ghana National College, Mpraeso SHS and Nandom SHS.
With an impressive performance from Mpraeso SHS during the Regional Qualifiers and the Preliminary Stage, Mpraeso is likely to cause a scare among these schools.
Contest 22 features Kanton SHS, Amaniampong SHS and Assin State College.
All three schools stand a chance of securing a slot in the Quarter Final Stage, but many stands in high hopes of Amaniampong SHS bringing the heat as they did during the One-eighth Stage.
After prevailing over Aburi Girls' SHS to qualify for the One-eighth Stage, will Adu Gyamfi SHS defeat Accra Academy and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Girls’ SHS to progress to the Quarter finals? Will Osei Tutu SHS, the 'Abrempong' of the Ashanti Kingdom dominate Chemu SHS and Toase SHS to secure a slot at the Quarter finals?
Here are the fixtures from Saturday, 15th October 2022 through to Tuesday, 18th October 2022 according to the various venues.
We look forward to another week of thrilling, heated and interesting contests.
Best Wishes to all competing schools.
