NSMQ 2026: TAMASCO Lions March into Semi-finals after Outshining St. Hubert Sem. SHS and Labone SHS!

Main Auditorium - August 31, 2026 Day Two of the Quarter-finals at the Main Auditorium of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) got off to a lively start as Tamale Senior High School, St Hubert Seminary Senior High School and Labone Senior High School took to the stage for the first contest of the day. It was a moment of joy for the contestants of Tamale SHS as they secured their place in the Semi-final Stage of the 2026 National Science & Maths Quiz.
Before the contest began, Quiz Mistress Prof. Elsie Effah Kaufmann interacted with the contestants in her usual engaging manner, setting the stage for another competitive contest.

From Round One, Tamale SHS established an early advantage, scoring nine points, while St Hubert Seminary SHS and Labone SHS managed four points each.
Tamale SHS maintained its lead in Round Two, the Trustur AI Speed Race, moving with 16 points. St. Hubert improved with 11 points, while Labone SHS recorded five points.

The contest became more competitive in Round Three with a Physics Problem, the Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star – Problem of the Day. Tamale SHS extended its lead to 20 points, with St. Hubert Seminary SHS closing in at 17 points. Labone SHS, however, remained behind with six points.
The tension intensified in Round Four, the Jupay Money Transfer True/False Round, when St. Hubert Seminary SHS caught up with Tamale SHS. Both schools finished the round on 33 points, while Labone SHS had 10 points.

St. Hubert Seminary SHS also secured the Jupay Clean Sheet earning GH₵ 900 in the round, adding another highlight to their performance.
With the contest finely poised between Tamale SHS and St. Hubert, the final GOIL Super Bonanza in Round Five, became crucial. Tamale SHS held its nerve to finish with 36 points, while St. Hubert Seminary SHS ended with 33 points. Labone SHS completed the contest with 14 points.

Both Tamale SHS and Labone SHS both earned GH₵ 500 at the end of the round.
The result sparked joy and celebration among the Tamale SHS supporters, as the school secured its place in the Semi-finals.
