The 2026 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) officially kicks off with the Regional Qualifiers on July 6, 2026, starting in the Bono and Western regions.
However, due to adjustments in the Senior High School (SHS) academic calendar, this year's qualifiers have been moved to after the WASSCE examinations. As a result, the schedule will see the Regional Qualifiers flow directly into the National Championship. There will be no Regional or Zonal Championships held this year.
The Regional Qualifiers will run nationwide from July 6 to July 31, 2026. Over 500 schools will compete in approximately 109 contests, vying for 139 available slots to join the 27 seeded schools at the National Championship. Contests will run concurrently across various regions, with live updates available via the NSMQ website and official social media platforms.

Balloting Exercise
To determine the match-ups for all 16 regions, the official Balloting Exercise will take place in Accra on Thursday, June 25, 2026. Officials from the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) will draw the fixtures for each region. Fans are encouraged to follow the live balloting event on the NSMQ YouTube channel and look out for the specific stream for their respective region/zone.
