NSMQ 2026: PRESEC, Legon Storms into Quarter-finals, Sends St. Louis Girls’ and Islamic SHS Packing!

Main Auditorium - August 27, 2026 The final contest of the day saw eight-time NSMQ champions, Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC, Legon), secure a place in the Quarter-final Stage with a commanding performance against St. Louis Senior High School and Islamic SHS, Kumasi.

In Round One, General Questions, PRESEC took the lead with 23 points. St. Louis SHS followed with 17 points, while Islamic SHS, Kumasi, recorded eight points.


The eight-time champions extended their advantage in Round Two, the Trustur AI Speed Race, reaching 40 points. St. Louis SHS moved to 26 points, while Islamic SHS, Kumasi, remained on six points.

In Round Three, the Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star, Problem of the Day, PRESEC maintained its dominant form, adding eight points to move to 48. St. Louis SHS added two points to reach 26, while Islamic SHS, Kumasi, gained three points to close on nine.

PRESEC maintained its commanding position as the contest progressed and entered Round Four, the Jupay Money Transfer True/False, with a significant advantage. The school moved to 58 points, while St. Louis SHS reached 44 points and Islamic SHS, Kumasi, remained on 19 points. St. Louis SHS provided a notable moment in the round by winning the Jupay Clean Sheet, worth GH¢700.


Round Five, the GOIL Riddle Bonanza, sealed PRESEC’s qualification as the school finished on 67 points, ahead of St. Louis SHS with 47 points and Islamic SHS, Kumasi, with 19 points. PRESEC also answered the required riddles to win the GOIL Riddle Bonanza prize of GH¢1,200. The victory secured PRESEC, Legon’s place in the Quarter-final Stage, while St. Louis SHS and Islamic SHS, Kumasi, ended their 2026 NSMQ campaigns at the One-eighth Stage.
