NSMQ 2026: Prempeh College Beats Keta SHTS and Ghana National College to Secure Semi-final Spot!

Prempeh College has secured the first Semi-final spot of the 2026 National Championship after winning the opening contest of the Quarter-final Stage.

The contest featured Prempeh College, Keta Senior High Technical School and Ghana National College. The three schools opened the contest by singing their respective school anthems before settling into the competition.

Moderated by Professor Elsie Effah Kaufmann, the contest marked the start of the highly anticipated race towards the Semi-final stage. Prempeh College established an early lead in the opening round, scoring 18 points in the General Questions, while Ghana National College managed 14 points and Keta SHTS scored 12 points.

 The Truster AI Speed Race, however, seemed challenging for all three schools as they answered successive questions wrong. When the round ended Prempeh College added just two points to move to 20 points. Keta SHTS added a point to reach 13 while Ghana National College lost two points to trail with 12 points.

Both Keta SHTS and Ghana National College raised objections to some answers; however, the Quiz Mistress, firmly upheld her decisions and dismissed the protests.

Prempeh College and Keta SHTS both performed in the Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Problem of the Day. Both schools added eight points to reach 28 and 21 points respectively. Ghana National College also managed to add four points to reach 16.

Ahead of round four Keta SHTS substituted Donald Edinam Bludo for Princess Akorfa Nyarko. Prempeh College also replaced Kwabena Owusu Donkor with Shelumiel Deladem Kuwornu. Prempeh College again extended its lead in the JuPay Money Transfer True or False round, reaching 41 points.   Keta SHTS also improved its tally to 33, while Ghana National College followed with 30.

The competition reached its peak in the GOIL Super Bonanza round, with supporters on the edge of their seats.  Keta SHTS mounted a challenge by answering two riddles, but Prempeh College held their nerve and solved one riddle to secure victory with 44 points and a cash prize of GH¢500.  Keta SHTS, who finished with 39 points, also took home the GOIL Supper Bonanza Prize of GH¢1,000. Ghana National College also bowed out of the competition with 30 points.
