NSMQ 2026: ADISCO Edges Kumaca and Wesley Grammar to Book Quarter-final Spot!

Adisadel College, one of the Central Region’s six seeded schools, retained its seeded status and secured a place in the Quarter-final Stage National Championship after winning the second contest of the final One-eighth Stage fixtures.
The 2016 NSMQ champions faced a strong challenge from Kumasi Academy and Wesley Grammar School at the CNC Auditorium before eventually securing a hard-fought victory.
The Round One ended with Adisadel College in control with 22 points. Kumasi Academy followed with 16 points, while Wesley Grammar garnered 11 points.
At the end of the Trustur AI Speed Race round, Adisadel extended their lead to 29 points with some quick and precise answers. Kumasi Academy managed 17 points, while Wesley Grammar remained in third position with 12 points.
The Round Three, Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star (Problem of the Day), proved difficult rounds for all three schools. While Adisadel College Wesley Grammar School could not secure any point, Kumasi Academy managed to score three additional points. Adisadel College remained on top with 29 points, Kumasi Academy improved slightly to 20 points, while Wesley Grammar stayed on 12 points.
The Jupay Money Transfer True/False round produced the most dramatic moment of the contest. Wesley Grammar staged an impressive comeback with a perfect score in the True/False round, earning the full GH₵700 Jupay Clean Sheet prize. Nonetheless, Adisadel College led the contest with 39 points. Kumasi Academy moved to 30 points, and Wesley Grammar to 28 points, closing the gap significantly.
In a tense Round Five, GOIL Riddle Bonanza, Kumasi Academy pushed harder to close the deficit with 36 points, but Adisadel College held their nerve to win with 42 points, while Wesley Grammar placed third with 31 points.
With the victory, Adisadel College has maintained its seeded status and qualified for the quarter-final stage of NSMQ 2026, while Kumasi Academy and Wesley Grammar bow out of the competition.
In a post-quiz interview, Adisadel College admitted that its team was under immense pressure in the One-Eighth Stage contest, describing it as one of the most difficult stages of the NSMQ because every school fought to secure seeded status for the nest year.
The Santa team commended both Kumasi Academy and Wesley Grammar for exceeding expectations and pushing them to the limit but believes the experience would make the 'Zebra boys' out in more effort going forward.
Mr Ernest Numuah Assowah, 2003 NSMQ contestant and Adisadel College Alumni, said they were looking forward to commemorating their decade win of the championship in 2016 with another win this year.
He noted that in 2016 when the school won the competition, their contest followed a similar narrow One-Eighth victory where many though they could not make it, finding themselves in that situation 10-years on.
