NSMQ 2025: University Practice SHS Ends Five-Year Wait, Regains Seed and Marches Into Quarter-finals

The final day of the One-eighth Stage of the 2025 National Championship began with contests featuring University Practice SHS, Ghana SHS (Koforidua) and Winneba SHS. After a fierce battle, University Practice SHS emerged victorious with 43 points to regain its seed after five years and qualify for the Quarter-finals.

Before the contest began, Quiz Mistress Dr Gladys Odey Schwinger helped the contestants feel at ease by asking about their expectations. University Practice SHS expressed confidence, saying, “Just as God promised the Israelites, the journey will not be easy, but it will definitely be a good landing.”
Ghana SHS, Koforidua, described their journey as a smooth one and hoped the Lord would see them through: “Horses and chariots are prepared for war, but victory lies with the Lord.” Winneba SHS simply added, “We pray that the will of God be done.”
By the end of the first round, University Practice SHS had taken an early lead with 18 points, followed closely by Ghana SHS with 16 points, while Winneba SHS trailed with 12 points.

University Practice SHS dominated the “Trustur AI Speed Race” as they answered the first set of questions correctly, attracting applause from their audience as they cheered them on. Winneba SHS attempted the next set of questions but failed. University practice regained their stand and clinched the next set of questions. They ended the round with 25 points. Ghana SHS, Koforidua, was three points behind with 22 points, while Winneba SHS, however, dropped to 11 points
In the “Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star” Round, University Practice SHS scored five points for partially solving the Problem of the Day. Ghana SHS, Koforidua, and Winneba SHS failed to score any points.
The “JuPay True or False” Round saw University Practice SHS and Ghana SHS, Koforidua compete fiercely. They ended the round with 43 and 38 points respectively, while Winneba SHS managed 21 points.

The final round was full of twists and turns that kept supporters on the edge of their seats. Ghana SHS, Koforidua, attempted three riddles but failed, drawing cheers from supporters of University Practice SHS as the margin between them narrowed. Winneba SHS, however, answered three riddles correctly to the surprise of all.
At the end of the contest, University Practice SHS won with 43 points, while Ghana SHS, Koforidua, followed with 38 points. Winneba SHS exited with 30 points and claimed the GOIL Riddle Bonanza award worth GH₵1,200.
