NSMQ 2025: St John’s SHS Kick Out Archbishop Porter Girls’ and St Mary’s SHS to Reach Quarter-finals

Day Two of the One-eighth Stage of the 2025 NSMQ National Championship wrapped up with a thrilling contest featuring St John’s SHS, Archbishop Porter Girls’ SHS, and St Mary’s SHS. It ended with St John’s accumulating an impressive 65 points.


The Saints’ fans were charged up, cheering loudly for their contestants. It was a close contest as all three schools showcased their academic prowess. The round ended with Archbishop Porter Girls’ SHS leading with 21 points, just one mark ahead of St John’s 20 points, while St Mary’s SHS followed with 14 points.

Archbishop Porter Girls’ SHS and St John’s School battled it out in the “Trustur AI Speed Race” round, taking turns to answer questions with impressive speed. Their pace had supporters shouting, “Speeed!” By the end, St John’s School soared to 34 points, while Archbishop Porter Girls’ SHS trailed with 24 points and St Mary’s SHS managed 19 points.


Round Three saw all three schools attempt the Problem of the Day. Archbishop Porter Girls’ SHS put up a commendable effort to win the “Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star” Award of GH₵2,400 for scoring 10 out of 10. St Mary’s SHS worked through everything but made a mistake in the final description, earning nine out of 10. St John’s School solved the problem partially and scored six out of 10.

In the “JuPay Money Transfer True or False” round, Archbishop Porter Girls’ SHS gave St John’s School a close contest, answering most of the questions correctly. However, St John’s School, determined to maintain their seed and qualify for the Quarter-finals, bounced back to secure 56 points. Archbishop Porter Girls’ SHS followed with 46 points, while St Mary’s SHS lagged behind with 36 points.

The crowning moment for St John’s School came in the fifth round, where their impressive performance in solving three out of four riddles earned them the “GOIL Riddle Bonanza” prize of GH₵1,200. They also won the “Pepsodent Highest Scorer Award” worth GH₵2,000. Archbishop Porter Girls’ SHS came second with 47 points, while St Mary’s SHS answered one riddle and exited the competition with 39 points.
