NSMQ 2025: Prempeh College Storms Into Quarter-final Stage, Bags GH₵5,600 in Awards!

Prempeh College delivered a commanding and award-winning performance to qualify for the Quarter-final Stage of the 2025 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ), defeating Suhum Senior High Technical School and Benkum Senior High School.

The contest began with the quiz mistress, Dr Gladys Odey Schwinger, asking the contestants about their journey and expectations. Prempeh College, who came as a seeded school, expressed their confidence. “We've been through thick and thin, we believe that by God's Grace we will sail through.”

Suhum SHTS expressed hope for victory: “We are hoping God will give us victory”. Benkum simply said: “We know as we've desired our lord will ensure for us.

In the first round, Prempeh answered questions confidently and picked up additional questions for bonus points. They finished the round in the lead with 20 points, followed by Suhum SHTS with 15 points, and Benkum SHS on nine.

The “Trustur AI Speed Race” introduced some early challenges for Prempeh as they missed their first two attempts. Benkum SHS gained ground and scored those points.  At the end, Prempeh added 11 points to reach 31. Suhum scored 22, and Benkum SHS dropped to seven points.

A tactical substitution by Prempeh College paid off in the Problem of the Day, where they produced a flawless solution to score a perfect 10/10. Suhum earned two points, and Benkum failed to score. Prempeh extended their advantage in the “JuPay True or False” Round, reaching 52 points. Suhum SHTS and Benkum SHS followed with 34 and 13 points, respectively.

Prempeh sealed the contest in the GOIL Riddle Bonanza, correctly answering three riddles to finish with 62 points. Suhum took one riddle to end on 37 points, while Benkum SHS exited the contest with 13 points.

Prempeh College, for their outstanding performance, took home three awards amounting to GH₵5600. They won the Pepsodent Highest Scorer award of GH₵2000, the GOIL Riddle Bonanza worth GH₵1200, and the Prudential Bank NSMQ Star Award of GH₵2400.
