NSMQ 2025: O’Reilly SHS Secures a Spot in the Next Stage

O’Reilly Senior High School put up a strong performance in the second preliminary contest of the 2025 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ), earning 40 points to secure their place in the One-eighth Stage.

The contest, moderated by Dr. Thelma Ohene-Agyei, opened on a reflective note as she engaged the contestants in a brief conversation about their journey to the National Championship. “The journey has not been easy,” all three schools shared, reflecting the determination and resilience that had brought them this far.
The first round, which tested general knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology, was closely contested. SDA SHS, Bekwai took a slim lead with 13 points, while O’Reilly SHS and St. Andrews SHS followed closely with 12 points each.

In Round Two, the Trustur AI Speed Race, O’Reilly SHS found their speed, answering quickly and accurately to gain eight additional points, bringing their total to 20. SDA SHS, Bekwai followed with 15 points, while St. Andrews SHS dropped to 10 points after losing marks for incorrect answers.
Momentum remained with O’Reilly SHS in Round Three, Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star (Problem of the Day), which featured a Physics question. O’Reilly excelled by correctly finding the constant to earn seven out of 10 points, extending their lead. St. Andrews SHS and SDA SHS, Bekwai followed with 5 points each.
The fourth round, Jupay Money Transfer True or False Round saw O’Reilly SHS sustain their dominance, confidently answering to add 10 more points, raising their total to 37 points. St. Andrews SHS made a strong effort to close the gap with 31 points, while SDA SHS, Bekwai trailed with 24 points.

In the final round, the GOIL Riddle Bonanza, O’Reilly SHS added three points after correctly answering one riddle. SDA SHS, Bekwai, also gained three points, while St. Andrews SHS ended the round without scoring.
At the end of the contest, O’Reilly SHS emerged victorious with 40 points, followed by St. Andrews SHS with 31 points, and SDA SHS, Bekwai with 27 points.
