After losing their seed to Swedru Senior High School last year, Kumasi High School (KUHIS) returned to the 2025 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) stage with one goal: to reclaim their honour. They faced St. Mary’s Boys’ SHS, who missed out on qualification in the final moments last year, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Girls’ SHS; KUHIS delivered a thrilling performance that left no doubt about their readiness for redemption.

Round One saw Kumasi High School flex its intellectual might early on. However, St. Mary’s Boys’ SHS found their rhythm midway, closing in with a series of impressive responses. By the end of the round, KUHIS led with 22 points, followed by St. Mary’s with 15 points, while Mount Carmel scored nine points.
The “Trustur AI Speed Race” began on a cautious note. The audience gasped as all three schools missed several questions. Yet KUHIS soon stunned the crowd with lightning-speed precision, buzzing in confidently even before questions were fully read. That boldness paid off as their score soared to 40 points, leaving St. Mary’s trailing at 12 points and Mount Carmel still at nine points.

In the “Prudential Life NSMQ Star” Round, Kumasi High’s teamwork shone through as they solved the Problem of the Day, earning six out of ten points to stretch their lead to 48. St. Mary’s Boys matched that performance with six points to move to 18, while Mount Carmel added two to reach 11 points.
KUHIS finally sealed their comeback in the “JuPay Money Transfer True or False” Round, where they scored 58 points, while St. Mary’s Boys and Mount Carmel trailed with 23 and 21 points, respectively.

Adding to their excellence, KUHIS solved three riddles to seal a resounding victory, finishing with 67 points and earning the “GH¢800 GOIL Riddle Bonanza” prize. St. Mary’s Boys concluded the contest with 23 points, and Mount Carmel Girls 24 points.
