NSMQ 2025: Effiduase SHCS Cruises Into One-eighth Stage

The final day of the Preliminary Stage of the 2025 National Science & Maths Quiz began with a contest featuring Effiduase Senior High Commercial School, new entrants Agona Senior High Technical School, and Hope College, a private school, at the CNC Auditorium.

The contest opened with determination from Effiduase SHCS, who were eager to reclaim their place on the national stage after missing out last year. They ended the first round with 22 points, followed closely by newcomers, Agona SHTS with 19 points, while Hope College trailed with 11 points.

In the “Trustur AI Speed Race,” Effiduase SHCS maintained their focus, adding four points to extend their lead to 26 points. However, Agona SHTS put up a strong challenge with 24 points, while Hope College struggled to keep pace, losing marks and dropping to nine points. The Problem of the Day proved difficult for all three schools, as none of them won the Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star Award. Both Effiduase SHCS and Agona SHTS scored four out of ten, while Hope College failed to add any points.

Ahead of the “JuPay Money Transfer True or False” round, all three schools made strategic substitutions that paid off. Effiduase SHCS powered up, extending their total to 46 points. Agona SHTS kept their qualification hopes alive with 41 points, while Hope College recovered slightly, climbing to 19 points.

The final round brought a spark of excitement as Hope College impressively solved the first two riddles. The third riddle went unanswered, and Effiduase SHCS snatched the final one to seal their victory. However, with no school solving more than two riddles, the GOIL Riddle Bonanza prize went unclaimed.

At the end of the contest, Effiduase Senior High Commercial School emerged winners, booking their place in the One-eighth Stage and marking a strong return to the National Championship. Agona SHTS delivered a commendable performance on their debut, while Hope College showcased resilience despite a challenging outing.
