NSMQ 2025: Ammenfiman SHS Secures One-eighth Stage Slot

Day Four of the Preliminary Stage contests of the 2025 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) National Championship, delivered yet another thrilling contest as Ammenfiman Senior High School, Shama Senior High School, and first-time contenders, Senya Senior High School battled fiercely for a slot in the One-eighth Stage.

Making their debut at the National Championship, Senya SHS, one of the top runners-up from the Regional Qualifiers, put up a commendable fight against their more experienced opponents.

The opening round began on a high note, with all three schools displaying solid academic prowess across subjects. Ammenfiman SHS showed early dominance, leading with 24 points, followed by Shama SHS with 19 points, and Senya SHS with 12 points.

In the “Trustur AI Speed Race”, Shama SHS briefly seized the lead with quick and confident responses that earned cheers from the audience. However, their energy waned as Ammenfiman SHS regained control with remarkable precision, ending the round with 40 points, while Shama and Senya trailed with 20 and 10 points, respectively.

Senya SHS substituted Emmanuel Narh ahead of the “Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star” Round, and the move paid off. They demonstrated teamwork, which earned them three points in the Problem of the Day. Ammenfiman and Shama, however, were unable to add to their tallies in that round.

The “JuPay Money Transfer True or False” Round saw the scores tighten once more as Senya SHS climbed to 26 points, Shama SHS followed with 27 points, but Ammenfiman stretched their commanding lead to 53 points.

The “GOIL Riddle Bonanza” sealed the fate of the contest. Ammenfiman SHS answered two riddles correctly to cement their lead, while Shama SHS claimed the final riddle. At the end of the contest, Ammenfiman SHS emerged winners with 59 points, securing a place in the One-eighth Stage. Shama SHS finished with 30 points, and Senya SHS ended with 26 points.

 Ammenfiman SHS won the Pepsodent Highest Scorer award of GH₵1,000 for having the highest points in the day's contests.
