NSMQ 2025: Amaniampong SHS Secures First-ever Quarter-final Berth in Style

After five appearances in the National Championship, Amaniampong Senior High School has finally broken through, securing their first-ever Quarter-final qualification at the 2025 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ). The team achieved this milestone after a 55-point victory over Aburi Presby SHS and Adiembra SHS, unseating Aburi Presby SHTS to claim their seeded spot.

The contest began on a steady pace, with all three schools answering their first three questions correctly. Amaniampong SHS quickly took the lead with 24 points, followed closely by Aburi Presby SHS with 16 points, and Adiembra SHS with 15 points.
In Round Two, the Trustur AI Speed Race, Amaniampong SHS maintained their momentum, adding five points to extend their lead. Meanwhile, both Aburi Presby SHTS and Adiembra SHS lost marks for incorrect answers, ending the round with 14 and 11 points respectively.

The Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star (Problem of the Day), Round Three, proved decisive, as Amaniampong SHS delivered a perfect performance, scoring 10 out of 10 to clinch the Prudential Life Insurance Star Award worth GH₵2,400. Aburi Presby SHTS managed five points, while Adiembra SHS earned four points.
Round Four, the Jupay Money Transfer True/False, saw all schools giving their best effort. Aburi Presby SHTS answered seven out of eight questions correctly, bringing their total to 32 points, but Amaniampong SHS remained ahead, adding 10 points to reach 49. Adiembra SHS also improved their standing, rising to 25 points.

The tension peaked in Round Five, the GOIL Riddle Bonanza, as each school sought to make a final push. Aburi Presby SHTS picked the first riddle to move to 35 points, but Amaniampong SHS demonstrated focus and composure, correctly answering the second and third riddles to secure their win with 55 points. Adiembra SHS ended the contest with 28 points after solving the final riddle.

With this remarkable performance, Amaniampong SHS has booked a historic first-ever Quarter-final spot and claimed the seeded position previously held by Aburi Presby SHTS. With an impressive score of 55 points, they also won the Pepsodent Highest Scorer award worth GH₵2,000, bringing their total prize package to GH₵4,400.
