NSMQ 2025: 174 SCHOOLS CHASE NATIONAL GLORY

The 2025 edition of the National Championship of the National Science & Maths Quiz is almost upon us, and history is set to be made once again. A record 174 schools have qualified to compete, the largest number in the history of the competition. Last year’s edition featured 157 schools, a number many thought could not be surpassed. This year’s participation surpasses that milestone and stands as a powerful testament to the continued growth and relevance of the NSMQ.
The 174 schools include:
27 seeded schools
106 Regional Qualifier winners
32 top runners-up
Nine private schools
One of the highlights of this year’s championship is the debut of 15 schools, making their first appearance at the National Championship. Their entry reflects the expanding reach of the competition and the deepening pursuit of academic excellence across Ghana.

For these schools, qualifying to the National Championship is no small feat: It represents years of preparation, resilience, and the determination to match up favourably against Ghana’s best. Their debut is an important milestone, as the NSMQ continues to expand its reach, inspiring new contenders and bringing fresh energy to the competition.
