Kumasi Academy, Acherensua SHS and Keta SHTS competed for a Quarter-final spot at the One-eighth Stage contest. After an intense contest, Keta SHTS secured 57 points, earning not only bragging rights over their rivals but also secured a place in the Quarter-final Stage. Additionally, they won two awards: the Goil Riddle Bonanza for answering three riddles correctly and the Pepsodent Highest Scorer Award.
The contestants were well-prepared and energized for the competition, with an eager crowd watching closely. Loud cheers and thunderous applause followed their welcome, as each school expressed hopes of advancing. The crowd erupted with excitement at the mention of "Gakpetor," one of Keta SHTS's contestants.
During the first round of the contest, Acherensua SHS scored just six points, while Keta SHTS and Kumasi Academy went head-to-head, ending Round One with 18 and 17 points, respectively.
The competition intensified in Round Two as Keta SHTS seized their opportunities, energising the crowd to the point where they had to be calmed down.
In a remarkable display of quick thinking, Keta SHTS provided the correct answer almost immediately after the Quiz Mistress began reading the instructions for a question in the Prudential Life Speed Race.
By the end of the round, Keta SHTS had widened their lead, finishing with 33 points compared to Kumasi Academy’s 24 points, while Acherensua SHS fell further behind with just five points
Keta SHTS further solidified their lead by earning four points in the “Problem of the Day,” round, while Kumasi Academy managed only three points and Acherensua SHS received two points.
The subsequent Jupay True/ False round heightened the excitement, as the crowd, already supportive of Keta SHTS, had even more to cheer for when one of their contestants was replaced during the round. Acherensua SHS performed admirably, answering all questions correctly alongside Kumasi Academy. Despite missing two questions, Keta SHTS successfully maintained their lead.
Goil Riddle Bonanza!
The Goil Riddle Bonanza round, highlighted Keta SHTS’s dominance as they correctly solved three riddles, securing a spectacular victory and winning the Goil Riddle Bonanza prize of GH₵1,200.
Additionally, as the school with the highest score in Auditorium 900, they earned the Pepsodent Top Scorer Award, worth GH₵2,000.
