Auditorium 900—October 17, 2024
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Girls' SHS, Manya Krobo SHS, and Chemu SHS faced off in an intense contest at the Preliminary Stage of the National Championship. The packed auditorium buzzed with anticipation as the crowd geared up for the heated rivalry. Cheers erupted when Quiz Mistress Dr. Thelma Ohene-Agyei introduced the contestants, with supporters passionately backing their schools. Despite moments of drama, including protests from all sides, Chemu SHS ultimately secured qualification to the One-eighth Stage with 43 points.
It was drama until the end
The contestants appeared relaxed and ready for the contest, despite admitting to their tough journeys to reach the National Championships. Each school expressed a shared sentiment, declaring, 'On God,' hoping for divine assistance to see them through to the One-eighth Stage and beyond.
As the contest began, expectations ran high, with cheers and applause reverberating throughout the auditorium. Surprisingly, all three schools missed their first questions but quickly redeemed themselves by correctly answering the second. It was an exhibition of brilliance, with Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Girls' SHS establishing an early grip on the contest, leading with 20 points after Round One. Chemu SHS followed closely with 15 points, while Manya Krobo SHS trailed with 14 points.
The Prudential Life Speed Race round puts contestants' quick thinking to the ultimate test. In this round, all schools missed the first question again. After Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Girls' SHS faltered and failed to answer any questions, Chemu SHS seized the opportunity, correctly answering four questions to leap into the lead with 20 points.
The early pacesetters dropped to 14 points after incurring penalties, while Manya Krobo SHS surged into second place with 16 points. The numerous protests from all schools during this round reflected the intense nature of the contest.
The expectant crowd expressed disappointment when only Manya Krobo SHS managed to score two points in the 'Problem of the Day' section.
This must hurt so badly. Manya Krobo SHS gave it their all but fell short
The Jupay True or False round favoured Chemu SHS, as they answered all eight questions correctly, bringing their score to 36 points. Manya Krobo SHS followed with 28 points, while Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Girls' SHS trailed closely with 27 points.
Chemu SHS sealed their victory by answering two riddles correctly in the final round, although they fell short of the three riddles needed to claim the Goil Riddle Bonanza Award.
