Bishop Herman College has secured its spot in the Quarter-final Stage of the 2024 edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz. Bishop Herman College won the contest with 49 points, followed closely by Konongo Odumase SHS with 48 points, while Wallahs Academy finished with 26 points.
Quiz Mistress Dr Mrs Gladys Odey Schwinger, in her opening remarks, wished all the contestants well after welcoming them to the One-eighth round. The audience in the hall comprised old students of Bishop Herman College and Konongo Odumase SHS.
The competition began slowly for Wallahs Academy, who ended the first round with just three points. Konongo Odumase SHS came in strong in Round One, while Bishop Herman College opted for a more measured approach, possibly to strategize.
The Prudential Life Insurance Speed Race was a tight contest between Bishop Herman College and Konongo Odumase SHS. Wallahs Academy, after falling behind on points, decided to stand down and not answer any questions during that round, leaving Bishop Herman College and Konongo Odumase to battle for supremacy.
All three schools found the "Problem of the Day" relatively easy, as they all managed to secure high marks. However, it was Wallahs Academy that achieved the highest score during this round of questioning.
The fourth round of the contest, the Jupay Money Transfer True/ False, had the audience clapping for Wallahs Academy, who answered all their questions correctly and increased their score from 10 to 26. Konongo Odumase and Bishop Herman College, who had led in the first two rounds, needed to buckle up for the last round.
The GOIL Riddle Bonanza Round became the decider for which school would progress to the next stage of the competition. Konongo Odumase SHS, who had maintained a comfortable lead, started to feel the pressure when Bishop Herman College answered the first riddle correctly.
Wallahs Academy followed by successfully answering the next question, and Bishop Herman College secured the third. The final question, crucial in determining whether Konongo Odumase or Bishop Herman College would advance, was answered by Wallahs Academy, sparking jubilant celebrations from the supporters of Bishop Herman College.
