Who wins? Volta Region versus Eastern Region and Greater Ashanti Region.
The 30th Anniversary edition of the National Maths & Science Quiz Kicked off, on October 6, 2023. As an exciting highlight of the 30th Anniversary celebrations, this year's NSMQ is being hosted in two distinct regions: KNUST in Kumasi and the National Theatre in Accra. This historic occurrence represents the first time the National Championship spans across two regions. KNUST serves as the venue for the Preliminary four stages of the competition, with the Grand Finale scheduled to captivate audiences at the National Theatre.
True statement expressed by Kumasi High School comes to light.
The first two rounds saw Kumasi high SHS and Anlo SHS dominating the floor leaving Okuapemman out. Anlo brilliantly answered majority of their questions correctly, making them emerge as leaders of Round One, scoring 20 points. Meanwhile, Kumasi High played their cards well to hit a high score of 24 points in the second round surpassing Anlo SHS with 06 points in the Speed Race. Obviously, the contest appeared to be between Anlo and Kumasi High. Where is Okuapemman? They equally did well; but in the first round, since they were closely contending in second place against Anlo at 17 points. They dropped sharply to 14 points in the Speed Race watching Kumasi High championing the game.
At the Problem of the Day, unfortunately for the leaders - Anlo and Kumasi High, Okuapemman stepped on the accelerator to distinguish themselves here, answering the Problem of the Day and getting 6 out of 10 extra points on their scorecard. Anlo and Kumasi High tried so hard, but to no avail resulting in a painful zero points for both schools. Concluding this episode, the tables turned to favor Okuapemman as the boys now become second contesting closely with Kumasi High School standing at a proud 20 points and 24 points respectively. The substitution made by the coordinators at the end of Round Two for Okuapemman, was the right decision. This catalyst evidently propelled them with force into the remaining contests. Amazingly, the ab initio leaders of Round One became the 'tail'.
The Landlords, Kumasi High School delighted about the outcome.
This affected Anlo SHS in the True/False section; their dramatic fall made them struggle to resurrect. Upon all attempts made, 28 points was their best. The hero of the day was still Kumasi High School having just one point ahead of Okuapemman School interestingly at 37 and 36 points. Good work by Okuapemman School for closing the gap this far.
The Landlords, Kumasi High School wins today.
The riddles didn't go well for Okuapemman. No extra points for them in this round. Meanwhile, their competitors showed off superiority achieving extra scores to beautify the scorecards. In this light, the intelligence exhibited by Anlo SHS contributed to augmenting their score from 28 points to 34 points - 06 points extra. Just one correct attempt by Kumasi High School bagged them a point to prove victory in the end. Kudos to the landlords for making 40 points - a step in the right direction to the Quarter-final Stage. Unfortunately, Okuapemman put up a very good fight but couldn't cross the quarterfinal line with 36 points.
