NSMQ 2023: St. Louis SHS Embodies Excellence in Semi-final Stage Qualification

The Quarter-final Stage of the 2023 National Science & Maths Quiz featured St. Louis SHS, Anglican SHS, Kumasi, and Wesley Grammar School at the Saarah-Mensah auditorium. These schools were the last to compete for the highly sought-after Semi-finals spot, and it was evident from the beginning that they had saved the best for last. St. Louis Girls demonstrated their determination right from Round One and maintained their momentum throughout the contest. At the end of the competition, they secured their place in the Semi-final Stage with a substantial lead. To top it off, they also won the prestigious AT Top Scorer award, which came with a cash prize of GHS3,000.00.

The 30th Anniversary edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz kicked off, on October 6, 2023. As an exciting highlight of the 30th Anniversary celebrations, this year's NSMQ is being hosted in two distinct regions: KNUST in Kumasi and the National Theatre in Accra. This historic occurrence represents the first time the National Championship spans across two regions. KNUST serves as the venue for the Preliminary four stages of the competition, with the Grand Finale scheduled to captivate audiences at the National Theatre.

At precisely 4 pm, the Quiz Mistress, Prof. Elsie Kaufmann, initiated the 2023 Quarter-final Stage of the NSMQ. Right from the Prelims stage, St. Louis proved to be a formidable opponent not to be underestimated, as they scored an impressive 52 points.


St. Louis SHS and Abuakwa State College clashed in their pursuit of a quarter-final spot during the One-eighth Stage. The outcome of the contest was crystal clear: St. Louis SHS had come extremely well-prepared. They outperformed their opponents, scoring an impressive 53 points, and thus securing their place in the Quarter-final Stage of the 30th Anniversary.


At the Quarter-finals Stage, St. Louis SHS once again scourged their opponents to the ground by not only beating them to the Semi-finals with 50points but also winning the prestigious AT Top Scorer award of a whopping sum of GHS3000.00.
