The fourth episode of the Mentorship Sessions featured Emmanuel Afetorgbor, Global Head of Operations at Trustur AI. His session focused on highlighting the benefits of using AI tools to gain more knowledge, particularly for educational purposes. This formed part of the theme: “Exploring the World of STEM Beyond the Classroom.”

He recounted a challenging period during his academic life in senior high school when he struggled with poor grades. Acknowledging the need to improve, he committed himself to studying harder, dedicating more time to solving additional mathematics questions to strengthen his understanding. Through this consistent effort, he was able to grasp mathematical concepts more thoroughly, which led to a marked improvement in his performance.
Drawing from this experience, he shared a powerful message with the students, emphasising the importance of continuous self-improvement and remaining dedicated to their academic goals.
“When I noticed my grades were not where they should be, I had to push myself to do better. Every student must learn to self-motivate, because if you do not, the world loses the chance to benefit from your brilliance and creativity. You must take responsibility for your learning. Do not rely on your teachers to prompt you. Encourage yourself, stay curious, and keep striving.” He stated.

Mr Afetorgbor introduced students to an AI tool known as Trustur AI, designed to provide educational support to Ghanaian learners. He explained that students can rely on this platform to enhance their studies. He highlighted several features that make the tool particularly valuable, noting that Trustur AI is specifically tailored to align with Ghana’s educational curriculum. This ensures that the guidance and responses it offers are both relevant and curriculum compliant, making it a dependable resource for learning.
“When it comes to education, we have gone a step further to gather resources from GES WAEC and they are all linked to the educational AI agent on Trustur AI. If your school has an agent on Trustur AI, it means your school’s agent is connected to the resources from WAEC and you can use it to study.” He explained.
He encouraged students to use the system as a meaningful support for their studies, emphasising that Trustur AI provides a wide range of valuable learning opportunities. However, he also advised them to use the tool responsibly, cautioning against the temptation to copy answers without first developing a proper understanding of the underlying concepts.
Mr Afetorgbor further urged students to put their ideas into practice as a way of solving real-world problems. He acknowledged that challenges are inevitable, but reminded them to remain focused on their goals, assuring them that with persistence, their aspirations will eventually materialise.

Highlighting the theme for the day, he encouraged students to look beyond the confines of the classroom. According to him, when students restrict themselves to only what is taught in class, they often struggle to tackle practical and real-world problems.
“The world is not limited to your classroom. Students tend to find practical questions more challenging than what is taught in class. This was evident during the NSMQ.”

Finally, he offered practical advice on making the most of available resources for STEM education. He encouraged students to use mobile devices as tools to enhance their understanding of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Recognising that not all students may have personal mobile phones, he suggested alternatives, such as using their parents’ devices and spending time in the school’s computer laboratories, to maximise study time and exposure to technology.
