From Setback to Comeback: Aggrey Memorial Blazes Through to One-eighth Stage

After missing out last year, Aggrey Memorial Zion Senior High School has bounced back in style, clinching a well-deserved place in the One-eighth Stage of the 2025 National Science & Maths Quiz, National Championship.


The final contest at the ever-vibrant Auditorium 900 kicked off with electrifying cheers as supporters rallied behind Obiri Yeboah SHS, Hohoe E.P. SHS, and Aggrey Memorial Zion SHS. With their eyes fixed on qualification, each school came in fiercely determined, confident, and prepared to battle their way to the next stage of the competition.

Right from the start, the competition was intense. Aggrey Memorial Zion SHS took an early lead, ending Round One with 18 points. Hot on their heels was Hohoe E.P. SHS with 17 points, while Obiri Yeboah SHS lagged behind with 14 points. The energy in the auditorium was electric, setting the stage for an even fiercer contest ahead.


The “Trustur AI Speed Race”, Round Two, tested both speed and accuracy. It quickly turned into a thrilling head-to-head between Hohoe E.P. SHS and Aggrey Memorial Zion SHS.


Hohoe E.P. fired off answers with urgency, but Aggrey Memorial combined precision with pace. Despite a spirited attempt at a comeback by Hohoe E.P. towards the end, Aggrey Memorial Zion SHS surged ahead, finishing the round with 30 points. Hohoe E.P. SHS followed with 22 points, while Obiri Yeboah SHS ended with 18 points.

In Round Three, the “Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star” which involves solving the “Problem of the Day”, Aggrey Memorial Zion SHS continued to prove their mettle, securing seven points. Hohoe E.P. SHS and Obiri Yeboah SHS both ended the round with two points each all out of 10, tightening the race but keeping Aggrey comfortably in the lead.


The “Jupay Money Transfer True/False” round brought another level of intensity. Aggrey Memorial held strong, maintaining their lead with 50 points. Hohoe E.P. SHS rallied impressively to reach 40 points, while Obiri Yeboah SHS followed with 29 points.


With one final opportunity to shift the tides, all three schools gave it their all. However, Aggrey Memorial Zion SHS remained composed and unshakable. They sealed their victory with 53 points, officially booking their ticket to the One-eighth Stage. Hohoe E.P. SHS put up a valiant fight and finished with a commendable 46 points. Obiri Yeboah SHS, despite their efforts, ended the contest with 29 points.

Aggrey Memorial’s triumph is not just a comeback, it’s a statement of purpose. With renewed energy and determination, they now head into the One-eighth Stage of the NSMQ 2025 ready to conquer new challenges and chase glory.
