Benkum SHS Advances to One-eighth Stage!

Main Auditorium — August 20, 2026 Benkum SHS secured a place in the One-eighth Stage of the 2026 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) National Championship, after a competing against Sekondi College and Akumfi Ameyaw SHTS.

The Eastern Region-based school started the contest steadily, trailing Sekondi College, which took an early lead with 19 points. Benkum SHS followed closely with 17 points, while Akumfi Ameyaw SHTS recorded 14 points.

In the Trustur AI Speed Race, Benkum SHS turned up the pressure, moving to 28 points. Sekondi College had 18 points, while Akumfi Ameyaw SHTS remained on eight points.

The lead widened in Round Three, the Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star Problem of the Day, as Benkum SHS reached 33 points. Sekondi College followed with 25 points, while Akumfi Ameyaw SHTS had 14 points.

By the Jupay Money Transfer True/False Round, Benkum SHS had pushed its score to 43 points. Sekondi College, however, continued to apply pressure, climbing to 38 points.

In the final GOIL Super Bonanza round, Benkum SHS answered all three riddles correctly to win the GH¢800 prize and finished the contest with 52 points. Benkum SHS also emerged as the Pepsodent Highest Scorer of the day, earning an additional GH¢1,000.

The qualification marks a significant improvement for Benkum SHS, which returns to the One-eighth Stage with renewed confidence after last year’s campaign.

With a place in the next stage secured, Benkum SHS will now look to build on its strong performance as the National Championship progresses.

The Jupay Money Transfer True/False segment in Round Four saw Benkum SHS maintain its momentum. The school moved further ahead with 43 points, while Sekondi College climbed to 38 points, keeping the pressure on as the contest approached its decisive stage.

In the final GOIL RIDDLE BONANZA Round Five, Benkum SHS capped its performance with another strong showing. The school successfully answered three riddles, earning the GH₵800 GOIL Super Bonanza prize, and finished the contest on 52 points.

Adding another individual accolade to their successful outing, a Benkum SHS contestant also claimed the Pepsodent Top Scorer Award worth GH₵1,000.
