A Clash to Remember: Ghana SHS, Tamale Triumphs in a Thrilling Contest as Nyakrom SHTS Misses Out

Auditorium 900 – October 21, 2025
It was nothing short of a spectacle as Nyakrom SHTS, Ghana SHS, Tamale, and St. Catherine SHS took to the stage for what would become one of the most memorable contests of the NSMQ 2025 prelims.
Even before the first question was read, Nyakrom SHTS, a first-timer at the National Championship, made their presence felt, their supporters filling Auditorium 900 with thunderous chants and applause. The energy was electric, the anticipation thick in the air. It was clear: this was going to be a fierce and emotional contest.

As Round One began, cheers erupted from every corner of the auditorium. It quickly turned into a tight race between the first-time contenders, Nyakrom SHTS and the confident, composed team from Ghana SHS, Tamale. The round was a rollercoaster, moments of tension and pride, with Ghana SHS snatching bonus points that Nyakrom missed. By the end of Round One, Ghana SHS, Tamale had taken control with 23 points, Nyakrom SHTS followed with 13 points, and St. Catherine SHS trailed with eight points.

Then came Round Two, the high-octane “Trustur AI Speed Race”, and the heat was palpable. Chants of “Heat! Heat! Heat!” echoed across the hall, all for Kassim, Ghana SHS, Tamale’s standout contestant, affectionately dubbed "Demon" for his quick and accurate answers. Kassim led a blitz through the round, thrilling supporters. At the buzzer, Ghana SHS, Tamale surged to 34 points, Nyakrom SHTS crept up to 14, and St. Catherine held at eight points.

In Round Three, the “Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star”, which featured the “Problem of the Day”, Nyakrom SHTS finally found their rhythm, leading the round with eight points, followed closely by Ghana SHS, Tamale with seven points and St. Catherine with six points.
Before Round Four, tactical substitutions saw Nyakrom SHTS bring on Rachael Aidoo for Bright, while St. Catherine introduced Manuella in place of Christiana.
The “Jupay Money Transfer True/False” round saw renewed intensity. Once again, Ghana SHS, Tamale dominated, ending the round with 48 points, followed by Nyakrom SHTS with 26 points and St. Catherine SHS with 18 points.

Then came the fifth and final round, the GOIL Riddle Bonanza. The hall erupted as Ghana SHS, Tamale sealed the deal by answering the final riddle correctly, locking in their place in the One-eighth Stage. Nyakrom SHTS, who had walked in poised and confident, had their dreams dashed at the last moment. They had fought valiantly, but they missed out to Ghana SHS, Tamale.
