The Twin Effect: Juliet and Judith Lead Aburi Girls' SHS to Quarter-final Glory

History was made at the ongoing One-eighth Stage as Aburi Girls’ Senior High School became the first female school to qualify for the Quarter-finals of the 2025 National Science & Maths Quiz. Led by the remarkable twin duo, Juliet and Judith, the team edged out Apam SHS, a seeded school, and Konongo Odumase SHS in a thrilling contest that kept the audience captivated from start to finish.

The contest began on an even footing, with all three schools performing impressively in Round One, General Knowledge. Apam SHS and Konongo Odumase SHS both ended the round with 24 points, while Aburi Girls’ SHS followed closely with 23 points after missing a single mark.


In Round Two, the Trustur AI Speed Race, Konongo Odumase SHS surged ahead, adding six points to reach 30, while Apam SHS added five to trail narrowly with 29 points. Aburi Girls’ SHS gained one point, bringing their total to 24 points.

Round Three, the Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star (Problem of the Day), saw an outstanding performance from all three schools, each earning a perfect score of 10 out of 10, showing their mastery of mathematical problem-solving which earned each school 2,400 GH, the Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star Award.


The turning point of the contest came in Round Four, Jupay Money Transfer True/False. The Aburi Girls’ twins, Juliet and Judith, dominated the round with flawless accuracy, answering all eight questions correctly to earn 16 points, propelling their team to 50 points. Apam SHS followed with 46 points after adding seven, and Konongo Odumase SHS stood at 44 after adding four.


With momentum on their side, Aburi Girls’ SHS sealed their victory in Round Five, the GOIL Riddle Bonanza, by swiftly answering the first two riddles. None of the remaining riddles were answered, leaving Aburi Girls’ SHS at 56 points, Apam SHS at 46, and Konongo Odumase SHS at 44 points.

As the final buzzer sounded, cheers erupted in the auditorium. Aburi Girls’ SHS secured a Quarter-final slot and snatched the seeded position from Apam SHS.

And with Juliet and Judith leading throughout the contest without substitution, one can’t help but wonder: was this victory powered by twin telepathy?
