National Championship frantically poised with great expectation.
The second day of the NSMQ 23 competitions kicked off with great intensity and enthusiasm at the Kumapley Auditorium. The teams from Oti Boateng SHS, represented by Christopher and Caleb, Kadjebi Asato SHS, represented by Sampson and Mathias, and Abuakwa State College, represented by Andy and Akomea, were all set to begin the day's contests.
Abuakwa State College (Abusco) delivered an impressive performance in Round One, securing a commanding 19-point lead. Abusco started the round by flawlessly answering their first question, becoming the sole school to do so, and also capitalised on a bonus question that eluded Kadjebi SHS. Likewise, Oti Boateng SHS was the only school to correctly respond to both Mathematics questions and even secured a bonus question for additional points.
In this same round, Kadjebi Asato SHS lagged behind in the contest. However, relentless Abuakwa State College finished this round strongly by answering the last set of questions exceptionally well, even seizing an additional bonus question that Christopher and Caleb from Oti Boateng SHS missed.
Kwadjo and Andy beautifully display their intellectual prowess.
Abuakwa State College took the lead in the Speed Race with an impressive score of 24 points, which is just 05 points behind the initial contender, Oti Boateng SHS. Kadjebi SHS finished this round with a total of 06 points.
Problem of the day: Cracking the NSMQ Math
The mathematical relation presented to the contestants as the Problem of the Day turned out to be quite challenging. Abuakwa State College managed to secure an additional 1 point, demonstrating their prowess. On the other hand, Oti Boateng SHS and Kadjebi SHS struggled and could not score any points, in this round.
Deborah Ntijah, the substitute from Oti Boateng SHS, made an effort to help her school by contributing meaningfully in Round Four, the True or False Round. However, it seemed that despite her efforts, the outcome remained unfavorable in the end. Additionally, there was an opportunity for the contestants when the Quiz Mistress, Dr. Anita Oppong, had to read another question after an incorrect one was initially provided, but Oti Boateng SHS could not capitalize on this opportunity.
Abuakwa State College making their school proud.
The Round Five commenced with Kadjebi Asafo making a strong start, correctly solving the first and last riddles. Unfortunately, they stumbled on the third riddle. Oti Boateng SHS could not resurrect their hopes as they answered the second riddle incorrectly. Abuakwa State College also made errors with the second and last riddles.
Champions of the day: Abuakwa State College
Drawing the curtain on this fixture, Abuakwa State College emerged as the winners of the day, stealing the spotlight with an impressive 38 points. Abusco has qualified for the next stage after today's Prelims, filled with high hopes for what lies ahead.
Unfortunately, Oti Boateng SHS and Kadjebi SHS had a disappointing day, which sends them home with an opportunity to come back stronger next year. They managed to score 26 and 23 points, respectively.
The champions from Abuakwa State College clearly demonstrated their superiority, making it seem like the competition was a walk in the park. Congratulations, Abusco!
