NSMQ 2026: Wesley Girls' High School Comes in Hot, Sweeps Three Prizes Worth GH¢3,700 and Books One-eighth Slot!

Main Auditorium – 21 August, 2026 Wesley Girls’ High School made a strong return to the 2026 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) National Championship, defeating Simms SHS and Nkwatia Presby SHS to secure a place in the One-eighth Stage.
The Cape Coast-based school entered the contest determined to reclaim its place among the top contenders after losing its seeded status last year.

Wesley Girls’ High School came out firing from the opening round, immediately establishing themselves as the team to beat. In Round One, they finished with 13 points, opening a three-point lead over Simms SHS, who had 10 points, while Nkwatia Presby SHS trailed behind with six points.
The momentum swung further in favour of Wesley Girls’ High School in Round Two, the Trustur AI Speed Race. They surged ahead to 21 points, extending their lead as Nkwatia Presby SHS climbed to 13 points and Simms SHS moved to 11.

Wesley Girls’ High School showed no signs of slowing down in Round Three, the Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star Problem of the Day. They stretched their advantage to 31 points with a perfect 10/10, a feat that earned them the Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star prize worth GH¢2,000. Simms SHS moved to 15 points, while Nkwatia Presby SHS remained on 13 points.

Wesley Girls’ continued to dominate in the Jupay Money Transfer True/False in Round Four, surging to 47 points. They completed a flawless round, answering every question correctly to claim the Jupay Clean Sheet prize and an additional GH₵500. Nkwatia Presby SHS moved to 26 points, while Simms SHS finished the round on 22 points.

The GOIL Super Bonanza in Round Five capped off a stellar outing for Wesley Girls’ High School, as they answered all four riddles correctly to pocket the GH₵1,200 GOIL Super Bonanza prize, sealing their passage to the One-eighth Stage. With the GH₵2,000 Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star prize and GH₵500 Jupay Clean Sheet prize already secured, Wesley Girls’ walked away with a total of GH₵3,700 in prizes.
Wesley Girls’ High School left the auditorium in a wave of jubilation, their chants and cheers echoing through the halls as they celebrated a commanding victory and a memorable return to the National Championship.
