NSMQ 2026: Tepa SHS, Afua Kobi Ampem Storm into One-eighth Stage!

The final day of the Preliminary Stage of the National Championship, featured two contests at the SMS Auditorium, with Tepa Senior High School and Afua Kobi Ampem Girls' Senior High School securing places in the One-eighth Stage after winning their respective contests.

The first contest featured, Tepa SHS, Adu Gyamfi SHS and Suhum SHS, with Tepa SHS winning with 49 points, while Suhum SHS recorded 39 points, and Adu Gyamfi SHS, with 17 points.

Tepa SHS established its dominance from the Round One, scoring 18 points. Suhum SHS followed closely with 16 points, while Adu Gyamfi SHS scored 11. The lead widened in Round Two, the Trustur AI Speed Race, as Tepa SHS moved to 29 points, with Suhum SHS with 20 and Adu Gyamfi SHS with 12.

In the Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Problem of the Day, Tepa SHS added seven points to reach 36. Suhum SHS gained six points to move to 26, while Adu Gyamfi SHS added one point to reach 13.

Tepa further extended its lead in Round Four, the Jupay Money Transfer True/False round, reaching 49 points. Suhum moved to 33, while Adu Gyamfi remained on 13.

The final GOIL Riddle Bonanza produced a late push from the two trailing schools, with Suhum answering two riddles to finish with 39 points and Adu Gyamfi SHS exited the competition with 17. Tepa, however, had already built an unassailable lead and secured the win with 49 points.

The second/ last contest for they day featured, Afua Kobi Ampem SHS, Nifa SHS and Kanton SHS. By the end of the contest, Afua Kobi Ampem SHS produced another dominant display, finishing with 50 points to beat Nifa SHS and Kanton SHS, who ended on 35 and 20 points respectively.

Afua Kobi Ampem took an early lead in Round One with 23 points, compared with Nifa's 14 and Kanton's six.

The school then delivered an outstanding performance in the Trustur AI Speed Race, answering each question with precision to extend its score to 31 points. Nifa SHS moved to 19, while Kanton lagged with five points.

The Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Problem of the Day, which featured a Physics question, saw Afua Kobi Ampem add three points to reach 34. Nifa SHS also gained three points to move to 22, while Kanton added two to reach seven.

Afua Kobi Ampem SHS maintained its commanding lead through the Jupay Money Transfer True/False round, reaching 41 points. Nifa SHS moved to 35, while Kanton reached 20.

The final GOIL Riddle Bonanza saw Afua Kobi Ampem answer three riddles to finish on 50 points. Nifa and Kanton were unable to close the gap and ended on 35 and 20 points respectively.

The impressive performance also earned Afua Kobi Ampem the GH¢800 GOIL Riddle Bonanza Award and the Pepsodent Highest Scorer Award of GH¢1,000.
