NSMQ 2026: St John’s School Marches to Quarter-finals with 55 Points!

St. John’s School delivered a stunning performance to defeat Benkum Senior High School and Nandom Senior High School in the One-eighth Stage of the National Championship. They finished the contest with 55 points to secure to the Quarter-final Stage and retain their seeded status.

The contest began on a lively note as supporters rallied behind their contestants with loud cheers and singing on anthems to help ease the tension in the auditorium.

From the opening round, St. John’s School quickly established themselves as the team to beat. They led the way in the General Questions round with 19 points, while Nandom SHS followed with 13 points and Benkum SHS had 11 points.

St. John’s School then shifted into another gear in the Truster AI Speed Race. Their impressive combination of speed and accuracy saw them pull further away from their opponents, taking their tally to 35 points. Benkum SHS managed just one additional point to reach 12, while Nandom SHS slipped to 10 points, leaving St. John’s with a sizeable advantage.

The Prudential Life Insurance Problem of the Day provided an opportunity for the trailing schools to close the gap. St John’s added four points to reach 39, while Benkum SHS secured three points to move to 15. Nandom SHS also picked up four points, bringing their total to 14.

The gap widened dramatically in the Jupay Money Transfer True or False Round, where St John’s School produced another strong showing to surge to 52 points.Nandom SHS improved to 24 points, while Benkum SHS reached 19 points, leaving St John’s with a commanding lead heading into the final round.

With the GOIL Riddle Bonanza offering one last opportunity for a dramatic turnaround, tension filled the auditorium. Nandom SHS struck first by answering a riddle, before St John’s School responded with one of their own. Nandom then returned to claim the final riddle, but it was not enough to change the outcome.

St John’s School finished the contest on 55 points, comfortably ahead of Nandom SHS on 30 points, while Benkum SHS ended their run with 19 points.

With their dominant performance from start to finish, St John’s School secured their place in the Quarter-final Stage of the 2026 NSMQ National Championship, while Nandom SHS and Benkum SHS bowed out of the competition.
