NSMQ 2026: POJOBA Defeats Osei Tutu and Ofori Panin to Reach Semi-Finals!

Main Auditorium - August 30, 2026 Pope John SHS & Minor Seminary (POJOBA), has secured a place in the Semi-final Stage of the 2026 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ), after defeating Ofori Panin SHS and Osei Tutu SHS in a Quarter-final contest at the Main Auditorium.


The one-time NSMQ champions, who lifted the title in 2001, produced a strong performance to finish the contest with 47 points. Ofori Panin SHS followed with 31 points, while Osei Tutu SHS ended on 22 points.

The contest began with all three schools vying closely for the lead as their supporters watched on from the opening round. After a cautious start, the schools settled into the competition, with POJOBA gradually establishing an advantage as the contest progressed.


POJOBA established an early advantage in Round One, scoring 19 points, ahead of Ofori Panin SHS with 13 points and Osei Tutu SHS with five points.

The lead widened in Round Two, the Trustur AI Speed Race, as POJOBA added to its score to reach 27 points. Ofori Panin SHS moved to 14 points, while Osei Tutu SHS had 11 points.


In Round Three, the Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star, Problem of the Day, all three schools battled for crucial points. Osei Tutu SHS scored four out of 10 to move to 15 points, while Ofori Panin SHS added four points to reach 18 points. POJOBA scored a point, extending its lead to 28 points.


POJOBA strengthened its position in Round Four, the Jupay Money Transfer True/False Round, taking its score to 44 points. Ofori Panin SHS had 28 points, while Osei Tutu SHS stood on 19 points.


With one round remaining, POJOBA held a comfortable advantage, but the GOIL Super Bonanza offered the other schools one final opportunity to mount a comeback.


POJOBA remained composed in the final round, adding three points to finish on 47 points. Ofori Panin SHS ended with 31 points, while Osei Tutu SHS finished with 22 points. All three schools earned GH₵500 each in the GOIL Super Bonanza Round after successfully answering one riddle.

The result sparked celebrations among the POJOBA supporters, who watched their team secure a place in the Semi-final Stage. For Ofori Panin SHS and Osei Tutu SHS, the defeat brings their 2026 NSMQ campaigns to an end.
