NSMQ 2026: OLAG Loses Seed to Presby SHS, Bompata, Who Storms into Quarter-finals!

Presby SHS, Bompata has taken OLAG’s seeded status after defeating the private school in a closely fought One-eighth Stage contest at the 2026 National Science & Maths Quiz, booking its place in the Quarter-finals in the process.

Our Lady of Grace SHS began the contest with the advantage, narrowly surpassing Presby SHS, Bompata, in Round One. OLAG finished the round with 17 points, just one point ahead of Presby SHS, Bompata, on 16, while Kumasi Sec. Tech. Sch. opened with 10 points.

However, Presby SHS, Bompata, found another gear in the Trustur AI Speed Race, picking up questions with greater accuracy to move into the lead with 20 points. OLAG remained on 16 points, while Kumasi Sec. Tech. moved up to 13.

Presby SHS, Bompata, continued to build its advantage in the Prudential Life Insurance Problem of the Day, adding three points to reach 23. OLAG and Kumasi Sec. Tech. each added two points, taking their scores to 18 and 15 respectively.

The Jupay Money Transfer True or False Round kept the contest within reach for the chasing teams. Presby SHS, Bompata, added five points to stretch its tally to 28, while OLAG and Kumasi Sec. Tech. both moved to 22 points.

With just six points separating the three teams from the final round, the GOIL Riddle Bonanza promised a tense finish. Our Lady of Grace answered two riddles, but Presby SHS, Bompata matched them with two of their own. Despite Kumasi Sec. Tech. remaining at 22 points, Presby SHS, Bompata's earlier advantage proved decisive.

At the end of the contest, Presby SHS, Bompata won with 34 points, ahead of Our Lady of Grace SHS with 28 points and Kumasi Sec. Tech. with 22 points.

The victory sends Bompata SHS into the Quarter-finals, while Our Lady of Grace’s run comes to an end.
