NSMQ 2026: Boa Amponsem SHS Snatches Seed from Abetifi Presby and Qualifies to Quater-finals!

Boa Amponsem Senior High School has successfully emerged victorious over Nsutaman Catholic Senior High School and seeded school, Abetifi Presby Senior High School.

The decisive finish in the final round of the 2026 National Science & Maths Quiz National Championship saw them gain the much-coveted seeded status and qualification into the Quarter-final Stage.

Abetifi Presby SHS, who came as a seeded school, set the early pace. They opened with 21 points in the Round One, seven points ahead of Boa Amponsem SHS’s 14 points. Nsutaman Catholic SHS scored six points.

But the early advantage quickly disappeared as Nsutaman Catholic SHS exploded in the Trustur AI Speed Race, jumping to 20 points while Boa Amponsem SHS scored 18 and Abetifi Presby SHS dropped to 14 points.

Nsutaman Catholic carried that momentum into the Prudential Life Insurance Problem of the Day, adding two points to reach 22. Boa Amponsem scored just a point and moved to 19, while Abetifi Presby lagged with 14 points.

Round four then tightened the contest, with Nsutaman Catholic SHS and Boa Amponsem SHS level on 32 points and Abetifi Presby SHS close behind on 30. Abetifi Presby, however, still had something to celebrate. They answered all the True / False questions correctly to win the GH¢700 JuPay Money Transfer Clean Sheet Award.

With everything still to play for, the GOIL Riddle Bonanza became the decisive battleground. Boa Amponsem SHS clinched two riddles to win the contest with 38 points. Nsutaman Catholic SHS finished on 35, while Abetifi Presby SHS lost their status and bowed out with 30 points.

The victory was a testament to Boa Amponsem SHS's ability to stay within striking distance as the lead repeatedly changed hands. After starting behind Abetifi Presby and later trailing Nsutaman Catholic, Boa Amponsem saved its strongest showing for the moment when the contest mattered most.
