NSMQ 2025: Ghana National College Secures Quarter-final Spot with Commanding Win

Ghana National College, one of the seeded schools in this year’s National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ), has confidently booked the first Quarter-final spot of the National Championship after edging out Tema Secondary School and Effiduase Senior High Commercial School with a remarkable 65 points.

The contest began on a steady note, as all three schools showed determination to take an early lead. By the end of the first round, Ghana National College had pulled ahead with 20 points, leaving Tema Secondary School with 14 points and Effiduase Senior High Commercial School behind with 10 points.
The second round, the Trustur AI Speed Race, brought an electrifying atmosphere to the SGS Auditorium, with the audience chanting “Speed!” as the schools raced through the questions. Ghana National College once again demonstrated impressive composure and accuracy, adding 14 points to extend their lead to 34 points. Tema Secondary School managed an additional two points, while Effiduase Senior High Commercial School dropped points due to incorrect answers, finishing the round with seven points. The announcement of the results elicited cheers of "Nananom!" from the Ghana National College supporters.

Round Three, the Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star (Problem of the Day), tested the schools’ mathematical prowess. Ghana National College narrowly missed full marks, earning nine out of 10, while Effiduase Senior High Commercial School put up a strong showing with nine out of 10, and Tema Secondary secured four points.
In the Jupay Money Transfer True or False, Round Four, Ghana National College cemented their dominance with a flawless performance, gaining an additional 16 points to reach 59. Tema Secondary School moved up to 33 points, while Effiduase Senior High Commercial School followed with 22 points.

Round Five, the GOIL Riddle Bonanza, kept the audience on edge. Effiduase Senior High Commercial School picked the first riddle, Ghana National College took the second, Effiduase Senior High Commercial School responded with another, but it was Ghana National College who sealed their victory with the final riddle, ending the contest with 65 points. Tema Secondary School ended with 33 points, while Effiduase Senior High Commercial School finished with 28 points.
With this convincing victory, Ghana National College secures their place in the Quarter-final Stage and maintains their seeded status in the competition.
