NSMQ 2025: Anlo SHS Clinch Last-Minute Victory Against Sonrise Christian SHS and Bawku SHTS

The final contest of the first day of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) preliminary stage ended in a thrilling showdown as Anlo Senior High School edged past Sonrise Christian High School and Bawku Senior High Technical School to enter the One-eighth Stage.

The opening round looked promising for Sonrise Christian SHS, who took an early lead with 19 points. Anlo SHS followed with 14 points, while Bawku SHTS trailed with three points. The energy in the auditorium was high. Sonrise supporters cheered loudly, sensing an early advantage, as Anlo quietly strategized for a comeback.

The momentum shifted dramatically in the “Trustur AI Speed Race” in Round Two.  Anlo SHS found their rhythm and answered questions with precision to score 25 points. Their surge pushed them ahead, leaving Sonrise Christian SHS at 15 and Bawku SHTS at two points.

In Round Three, the Prudential Life NSMQ Star Round saw Sonrise Christian SHS rally back into the game. They tackled the mathematical problem of the day with determination and precision, earning a perfect 10 to claim the NSMQ Star award. Anlo SHS scored five points, while Bawku SHTS failed to score. The Sonrise bench erupted in applause, their hopes of reclaiming the lead very much alive.

In Round Four, the Jupay Money Transfer True or False Round, Sonrise Christian SHS continued their fight, answering confidently to reach 38 points, while Anlo SHS trailed narrowly with 34 points. The tension in the auditorium was palpable; every correct answer drew cheers, every mistake a collective sigh.

Then came the decisive Goil Riddle Bonanza in Round Five. Sonrise attempted the first riddle but missed, and Anlo answered flawlessly, following up with a correct response to the second. Sonrise recovered to claim the third, tying the contest. The atmosphere was electric as the final riddle landed, and Anlo SHS clinched victory.

Their correct response sealed a hard-fought win with 44 points, crowning them champions of the day’s final contest. Sonrise finished with 41 points, and Bawku SHS ended with nine points.
