First-Timers, Fierce Fighters: Mankessim SHTS Storms Into One-eighth Stage

In their first-ever appearance at the National Championship of the National Science & Maths Quiz, Mankessim Senior High Technical School made a statement that will not be forgotten soon. They clinched a hard-fought victory over Adiembra SHS and Presby SHS, Bompata, to advance to the One-eighth Stage.

Round One began on a competitive note as all three schools displayed strong academic form. Adiembra SHS gained an early advantage with 23 points through confident and well-coordinated responses. Mankessim SHTS, undeterred in their debut appearance, followed closely with 19 points, while Presby SHS, Bompata, maintained the pressure with 18 points. The close scores hinted at a keenly contested competition ahead.

The first-time contenders soon proved that they belonged on the national stage. In the “Trustur AI Speed Race”, Mankessim SHTS quickly seized the spotlight, answering five consecutive questions to take a commanding lead. Their quick thinking and agility earned them 30 points, while Adiembra SHS followed with 26 points. Presby SHS, Bompata, struggled to stay afloat with 14 points after losing ground.

Presby SHS, Bompata, made a strong comeback in the Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star round, Problem of the Day, scoring a perfect 10 out of 10 to boost their total to 47 points. Their outstanding performance also earned them a cash prize of GH¢2,000. Mankessim SHTS secured eight points, bringing their total to 48 points, while Adiembra SHS managed four points to reach 43.

At the end of the JuPay Money Transfer True or False Round, Mankessim SHTS led with 48 points, followed by Adiembra SHS with 43 points, and Presby SHS, Bompata, with 37 points.

The contest reached a nail-biting finish in the “GOIL Riddle Bonanza”, as each school vied for the final points. Mankessim SHTS cracked the first riddle, Adiembra SHS swiftly solved the next two, and Presby SHS, Bompata, clinched the final one. When the contest concluded, debutants Mankessim SHTS stood tall with 51 points, narrowly edging Adiembra SHS on 49 points, while Presby SHS ended with 40 points.
