NSMQ 2022: ADU GYAMFI SHS prevails over ABUGISS

It was an emotional scene at the Kumapley Auditorium, KNUST, when Adu Gyamfi Senior High School beat Aburi Girls' SHS by an impressive margin in the first contest of the second day of the Preliminary Stage. Adu Gyamfi proved too difficult an opposition for Aburi Girls Senior High School, a. k. a. ‘the Royal beads,’ and Sefwi Wiawso SHS. The contest was full of drama and tension amid exhilarating cheers and ‘jama’ from the supporters of Adu Gyamfi SHS.

The contest began with the two dominant schools, Adu Gyamfi SHS and Aburi Girls’ SHS, flaunting their academic prowess over Sefwi Wiawso SHS. Adu Gyamfi SHS prevailed in round 1 over ABUGISS by a one-point margin.

At the end of round 1; Adu Gyamfi SHS: 15pts Aburi Girls' SHS: 14pts Sehwi Wiawso SHS: 06pts

Sefwi Wiawso SHS had 3 out of their six marks deducted for providing wrong answers in round 2. However, Adu Gyamfi and Aburi Girls’ maintained their dominance, with Aburi Girls’ overtaking Adu Gyamfi with 6 points. The tension among the supporters of the two dominant schools could be felt in the auditorium at this time.

At the end of round 2; Aburi Girls’ SHS: 20 points; Adu Gyamfi SHS: 16 points; and Sefwi Wiawso: 3 points

In round three (3), Adu Gyamfi SHS closed their gap with three points whilst both Aburi Girls and Sefwi Wiawso scored zero points. The problem of the day remained problematic for all three schools. The "Royal Beads" still led the contest although they scored zero points for round 3. The power-play between the two dominant schools took a different turn in round four, as Adu Gyamfi came into their element. They dominated the True or False set of Questions and took a firm leadership of the contest in round four, surpassing Aburi Girls’ SHS by fourteen (14) points. They amplified their dominance in round 5, by answering three riddles correctly, earning the GOIL Riddle Bonanza cash prize worth GHC800 and winning the contest with forty-one (41) points.
